Youth Metropolitan Step Up/Step Down

The Youth Step Up/Step Down (SUSD) service will be at 41-51 Morley Drive, Balcatta. The 10-bed service will provide support for young people aged 16–24 years of age experiencing mental health issues, in a residential, home-like setting close to community, friends and family. The service will operate in the metropolitan Perth but will be open to all young people in Western Australia.

SUSD services provide contemporary, therapeutic mental health care through short-term residential support and individualised care, for up to 28 days.

This includes a combination of psychosocial and clinical services, to help young people manage their mental health, avoid hospitalisation and live well in their community.

The Department of Health is delivering this project in partnership with the Mental Health Commission and Department of Housing and Works.

Further information on the service, including Frequently Asked Questions, is available at www.mhc.wa.gov.au/youthsusd (external site)
