Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital ICU

The Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Pod Project is delivering a major upgrade to one of Western Australia’s most critical ICU hubs.

This project is essential to ensure that SCGH can continue to meet the needs of a growing and aging population with world-class emergency and ICU services.

The ICU supports emergency and elective admissions. It provides specialist care to patients post cardiac surgery, neurological surgery and liver transplants, as well as other patients requiring life support and advanced therapies.

The pod will be physically separated from the main ICU, allowing it to be isolated and quarantined if required.

The addition of the 10-bed pods upgrade will expand the service to a 40-bed critical care unit.
