The
Statewide Medicines Formulary (Formulary One)
has been implemented. Formulary One is a compilation of all medicines and their indications, considering their evidence-base and cost-effectiveness, which may be initiated in a WA public hospital. This system ensures equity of access to medicines for all patients across WA.
The National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA) 2020-2025 Addendum was signed on 29 May 2020, by all Australian Governments. Commonwealth funding for WA’s public hospitals will increase from $2.4 billion in 2019-20 to over $3.2 billion in 2024-25. The NHRA provides:
funding of public hospitals;
principles for the transparency and governance of Australia’s health system; and
a shared long-term vision for health reform.
