Vaccination Advocacy, Knowledge, and Support through Collaboration (VAKS-Co)
Vaccination Advocacy, Knowledge, and Support through Collaboration (VAKS-Co)
WA Health is committed to improving vaccination rates for all Western Australians. This includes providing support to immunisation providers.
Vaccination Advocacy, Knowledge, and Suppport through Collaboration (VAKS-Co) is focused on supporting collaboration and coordination across WA Health to improve immunisation activities.
VAKS-Co was established in 2024 as a collaboration between the North Metropolitan Health Service and Child and Adolescent Health Service. The Department of Health is involved in VAKS-Co to help provide guidance and direction, including alignment with the WA Immunisation Strategy.
Key projects
Four projects are the focus for 2026:
- Immunisation advice service model development
Objective: Develop options for an immunisation clinical advice service for WA that meets consumer and provider needs, has organisational support, and for which implementation is feasible.
- Inpatient immunisation project (CARL-B)
Objective: Address gaps in immunisation coverage in high risk-paediatric populations in a tertiary hospital inpatient and outpatient setting through implementation of an automated, system level approach.
- Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) issues affecting coverage
Objective: Identify issues in reporting AIR data that may impact coverage calculations in metropolitan Perth, and support immunisation stakeholders to address these issues.
- ImmsOn Time
Objective: Increase immunisation coverage for children at 12 months of age by using digital innovation to anticipate vaccination needs and support families for vaccination in metropolitan Perth.
