Immunisation courses
Note: For staff hired to administer influenza vaccines only, the following information is not applicable. Please proceed directly to the WA Health immunisation education modules and registration section below.
Note: The completion of a HESA accredited immunisation course needs to be completed only once, unless you have:
- Not been working as an immunisation provider for over 3 years, or
- been practicing as a health care provider in a non-immunisation related role for over 5 years.
Please see the education requirements table for immunisation providers working under the CEO of Health SASA (Structured Administration and Supply Arrangements) which outlines education requirements by provider and vaccine type. All immunisation providers must work within their scope of practice and specific SASA requirements.
The relevant immunisation courses outlined in the table below are supplemented by additional free WA Health Immunisation online learning modules. Completion of these modules is required to ensure professional skills are refreshed and current, specifically:
- to ensure updated information on all aspects of immunisation is understood and refreshed annually.
- to enhance immunisation knowledge across all programs in WA.
- to meet one of the requirements of the CEO of Health SASA.
Recognised prior learning
The immunisation education programs listed below, and/or those accredited by Health Education Services Australia (HESA) (external site), are recognised by WA Health as valid contribution towards eligibility to practice as an immunisation provider in WA.
Note: Immunisation providers still need to adhere to other additional requirements to support authority to practice, e.g. organisational requirements or the SASA, if applicable.
