The Review of the Clinical Governance of Public Mental Health Services in Western Australia

The Review of the Clinical Governance of Public Mental Health Services in Western Australia (the Review) commenced in late 2018 and the Minister for Health, Mental Health has appointed an expert Panel to conduct the Review.

The Review was established in response to recommendations made by the 2017 Review of Safety and Quality in the WA health system and 2018 Sustainable Health Review Interim Report and will ensure the delivery of high quality mental health services for the WA community by examining and proposing improvements to current clinical governance arrangements.

The Review Panel is scheduled to meet formally from March 2019 and comprises:

  • Dr Martin Chapman - Chair;
  • Professor Bryant Stokes AM - Special Ministerial Advisor;
  • Dr Peggy Brown AO - Panel Member
  • Dr Grant Sara - Panel Member; and
  • Ms Margaret Doherty – Panel Member (consumer and carer representative).

The Panel is required to deliver a report including findings and recommendations to the Director General of the Department of Health, the Mental Health Commissioner and the Minister for Health, Mental Health by 30 June 2019. A team within the Department of Health is providing project support for the Review.

Get involved

The Panel invites clinicians, consumers and carers, organisations and service providers who wish to share their experiences of clinical governance to submit to the Review by 12 April 2019.
