Public holiday COVID testing clinic opening hours

19 September 2022

Public COVID testing clinics in the metropolitan Perth area will close early on Thursday, 22 September and Monday, 26 September for the National Day of Mourning and Queens Birthday public holidays.

The clinics will be open from 8am till noon on these days. People should arrive by 11am if they can, as no testing is conducted after closing time.

Public COVID Testing Clinics will operate on normal opening hours (8am to 4pm) on all other days over the long weekend.

Test at home with a RAT

Remember, rapid antigen tests (RATs) provide a safe, convenient and quick option to detect COVID-19.

WA households are eligible for 20 free nasal RATs through the WA free RAT program, with additional free RATs available for close contacts (you must not have symptoms when collecting your RATS).

If your RAT test result is negative and you think you may still have COVID-19, it’s recommended to test again after 24 hours. Stay home until your symptoms resolve.

GP referral for PCR testing with private providers

From 1 October, a referral from a GP or other medical practitioner will be needed to receive a PCR test at a private pathology provider.

This mirrors the approach used to test for other respiratory illnesses, such as influenza.

PCR testing without a referral will be available at public COVID Testing Clinics for people with COVID-like symptoms and close contacts.
