Masks still required in high-risk settings

Recently eased mask wearing rules which came into effect on Friday, 9 September do not apply to hospitals and other high-risk settings.

Masks are no longer mandated on WA’s public and passenger transport, including trains, buses, rideshare services, taxis and domestic flights.

However, people must wear a mask at hospitals and high-risk settings, such as healthcare settings, aged care facilities, correctional facilities and residential care facilities, including disability and mental health facilities. Mask use is recommended for cases and close contacts in indoor settings on Days 6 and 7 after testing positive or becoming a close contact.

Everyone is encouraged to continue wearing masks in crowded indoor spaces and where physical distancing is not possible, to help protect people at greater risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
