COVID-19 update 26 May 2023

WA Health is reporting a total of 4,486 new cases in the past week to 4pm yesterday (25 May 2023). As of 4pm yesterday, there were 2,498 active cases in Western Australia.

 

As at 4pm yesterday, there were a total of 240 people with COVID-19 in hospital, with seven in ICU.

 

Sadly, this week’s report to 4pm yesterday includes 30 deaths, dating back to 22 May 2022, which were reported to WA Health in the past week, aged from 39 to 97 years.

 

This increase in reported deaths is the result of a number of coronial investigations that have been finalised in the past week.

Total PCR tests for the timeframe were 5,583.

 

Total positive PCR tests for the timeframe were 602. Total positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) in this period were 3,884.

 

WA has recorded 1,334,643 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

 

Anyone experiencing symptoms is strongly encouraged to stay home if they’re unwell, and until symptoms have resolved.
