COVID-19 update: 7 August 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 2,361 new cases to 6pm last night. There are currently 19,488 active cases in Western Australia.

To 6pm last night, there were 342 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 14 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes 10 deaths, which were reported to WA Health yesterday, dating back to 27 July. This includes 3 women and 1 man in their 90s, 2 women and 2 men in their 80s,1 man in his 70s and 1 man in his 60s.

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (45) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 2,361 cases, 871 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 1,490 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 3,527 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,087,681 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
