Fifty-five Wallabies players and staff turned out to the WA Health-run community vaccination clinic at Claremont Showgrounds today (August 26) to receive second dose COVID-19 Pfizer vaccinations.
The national team took the opportunity to ensure the playing squad and staff became fully vaccinated while in Western Australia awaiting confirmation of the schedule and arrangements for upcoming international rugby matches.
WA Health partnered with the Wallabies to provide the vaccine opportunity.
Vaccine Commander Chris Dawson said it was important that all people in eligible cohorts get both vaccine doses as soon as possible.
“It is heartening to see people from all elements of Australian life – including the highest levels of international sport, such as the Wallabies players – getting vaccinated and making sure the message gets out to the community,” Mr Dawson said.
“I urge eligible Western Australians to roll up for WA and register and book a vaccination appointment as soon as possible.
“There are still many appointments available to book in Western Australia, both in WA Health run clinics, and many GPs, GP respiratory clinics and pharmacies.”
Eligible Western Australians are urged to visit www.rollup.wa.gov.au to register and book their vaccination appointments as soon as possible.
WA Health State COVID-19 vaccination clinics are available in more than 100 locations across Western Australia, with sites listed on the HealthyWA website.
COVID-19 vaccinations are also provided by a range of GPs, GP respiratory clinics and pharmacies across the State. People are encouraged to speak to their local health care provider to find out more.
Yesterday (August 25), Western Australia reached 1,000,000 first doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered, across all facilities.
