COVID-19 update 22 October 2021

WA Health is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total remains at 1112. To date, 1101 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

As of last night, WA Health was monitoring two active COVID-19 cases, both of whom are in hotel quarantine.

Tasmania

WA Health continues to monitor the situation in Tasmania after a man in his 30s, who breached quarantine, tested positive for COVID-19.

Western Australians who have been at a listed venue at the specified times needs to self-quarantine for 14 days and be tested within 48 hours and at day 12.

Testing clinics

Yesterday, 283 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. To date, there have been 1,839,602 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 213,566 were in regional WA.

COVID-19 vaccinations*

Yesterday, 26,872 COVID-19 vaccine doses were recorded in WA – 14,693 of these were second doses. The total includes 5,965 historic COVID-19 vaccine doses*. These figures represent COVID-19 vaccinations at State-run clinics and doses given as part of the Commonwealth rollout**.

As of this week, appointments are no longer required at State-run clinics in metropolitan Perth and regional areas.

An Aboriginal Family Day will be held at the Armadale clinic tomorrow, where all Aboriginal people aged 12 years and above will be welcomed to the clinic with a Welcome to Country, food and other activities provided. Aboriginal people can attend from 10am to 4.30pm.

Vaccination information:

Mandatory vaccinations apply to the following workers based on the latest public health advice. Further details are available online.

  • Health care workers
  • FIFO and other resource sector workers
  • Dunsborough school leavers
  • Freight, transport and logistics workers
  • Port workers who board or work with exposed vessels.
  • Directions are being drafted to make vaccinations mandatory for most occupations and workforces in Western Australia.

    Border controls

    The Premier announced yesterday that Queensland will remain classified as a ‘low risk’ jurisdiction.

    Earlier this week, the State Government announced that Western Australia’s controlled interstate border was set to be safely adjusted, pending no further outbreaks, to allow for quarantine-free travel from Queensland, which was set to be permitted from tomorrow.

    The transition has been paused and the decision will be reviewed on Monday, 25 October 2021.
