COVID-19 update 26 July 2021

WA Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total stands at 1048.

There are now nine active COVID-19 cases are being monitored by WA Health: one case is in hotel quarantine and eight cases remain aboard the BBC California currently berthed at Fremantle Port.

To date, 1030 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

MV Darya Krishna

Bulk carrier, the MV Darya Krishna, will berth at Fremantle Port (North Quay, Berth 2) this morning for the medical emergency evacuation of three crew members and the testing of the remaining 17 people on board.

The three crew will be transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital by St John Ambulance COVID-19 dedicated vehicle and Special operations crew. All COVID-19 protocols and procedures will be followed.

Testing clinics

Yesterday, 959 people were swabbed at State-run clinics.

To date there have been 1,495, 951 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 180,571 were from regional WA.

Border controls

Western Australia has assessed New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria as medium risk (external site) states. The Australian Capital Territory is low risk (external site). The Northern Territory and Tasmania are considered very low risk (external site).

Variants

To date, 118 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 49 Delta strain.
