COVID-19 update – 3 April 2020
The Department of Health has confirmed a third COVID-19 related death in Western Australia.
A man in his 60s – who was a passenger from the cruise ship Artania – died overnight at Joondalup Health Campus.
The Department reported 22 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the State’s total to 422.
Of these confirmed cases, nine are from the Artania, 10 are from metropolitan Perth and three are regional cases from the Wheatbelt.
Outside of the Artania cases, eight of today’s cases are related to cruise ships and three to overseas travel. Two are still under investigation.
As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway.
There are currently 56 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with 16 in ICU.
To date, 16,022 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 2,278 are from regional WA. WA has 92 recovered cases.
