COVID-19 update – 28 April 2020
The Department of Health has today reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State’s total to 550.
The case is an 80-year-old female in metropolitan Perth, linked to the Costa Victoria cruise ship.
As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway to ensure all close contacts are notified and advised to self-isolate.
The State’s total number of active cases stands at 47. Of these, 17 are from the Artania cruise ship, two are from interstate and 28 cases are WA locals.
There are 16 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals – four of whom are in ICU.
To date 35,155 people have tested negative for COVID-19 in Western Australia. Of those, 6,230 people have returned negative tests in regional WA.
Yesterday, 360 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics – 343 people were assessed and swabbed.
