COVID 19 update 10 April 2020
The Department of Health has reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the State’s total to 506.
Of these confirmed cases, nine are from metropolitan Perth and two are from the Goldfields.
Nine of today’s cases are related to cruise ships (Artania, Celebrity Apex, Ruby Princess and Costa Victoria) and overseas travel.
As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway to ensure all close contacts have been notified and are self-isolating.
There are currently 34 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals – of those 17 are in ICU.
To date, 20,638 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 4,221 are from regional WA.
WA has 203 recovered cases.
Today has also seen the conclusion of the 14-day quarantine period for travellers from the Vasco De Gama cruise ship, who have been accommodated at Rottnest Island and Perth hotels.
The Department is working closely with Government agencies to secure travel arrangements to enable these people to return home to their families as soon as possible.
See WA Health’s HealthyWA website for the latest information on COVID-19 and self-isolation.
