Overview
The Targeted Research Fund (TRF) was a three year commitment, by the Department of Health to fund short-term research projects that focus on significant issues that impact on the health of the population of WA, and the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare delivery by WA Health. The fund commenced in 2011 and the last round finished in 2013.
The key aims of the fund were to:
- Fund research that increases the capacity of WA Health to address issues that impact on the health of the population of WA, and which enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery;
- Enhance the translation of research findings into more effective health policy and practice in WA Health; and
- Contribute to integrating the research capability in universities, research institutes and health services by encouraging the development of research-policy-practice clusters.
Research outcomes were required to clearly link the capacity of WA Health to address the identified issues, through policy, operational or other transformational changes that are implementable and sustainable.
