The following notices are issued by the Chief Executive Officer of Health and are published in the Government Gazette. They impose conditions and restrictions on various Schedule 7 poisons for the purpose of safeguarding public health. The notices are applicable to both suppliers and users of Schedule 7 poisons.
The Section 72 Notices about 1080, PAPP and strychnine were updated and reissued in April 2018. Suppliers and users of these vertebrate pesticides must also comply with the Code of practice for the safe use and management of registered pesticides containing 1080, PAPP and strychnine (PDF 339KB).

Code of Practice
1080 (also known as sodium fluoroacetate), PAPP (also known as para-amino propiophenone) and strychnine are poisons used in Western Australia (WA) for the management of wild dogs, foxes and other vertebrate pests. Strict regulatory controls are in place to reduce the risk of both human and off-target poisoning. The Department of Health, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions work together to manage authorisation of the supply and use of these poisons across WA.
All suppliers and users of 1080, PAPP and strychnine products must adhere to the Code of practice for the safe use and management of registered pesticides containing 1080, PAPP and strychnine (PDF 339KB)
The Code of Practice was updated in June 2025, to focus on the mandatory requirements for those supplying and using 1080, PAPP and strychnine products.
