Legislation, policy and guidelines in assisted reproductive technology
Western Australian legislation that regulates the assisted reproductive technology:
The Reproductive Technology Council (external site) advises the Minister for Health on matters related to reproductive technology, advises the Chief Executive Officer of Health on fertility clinic licence applications and issues approvals required under legislation.
Licensed fertility providers are required to comply with the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee Code of Practice for Assisted Reproductive Technology Units (external site) and the National Health and Medical Research Council Ethical Guidelines of Assisted Reproductive Technology in Clinical Practice and Research (external site).
Western Australia laws in relation to assisted reproductive technology are currently being reviewed.
