Free influenza vaccine program May and June 2026

From 1 May to 30 June 2026, participating immunisation providers can administer state-funded influenza vaccines to people aged 12 to 64 years who are not otherwise eligible for an influenza vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

General practices (GPs), community pharmacies, Aboriginal medical services, nurse practitioner clinics, corporate vaccination service providers and community health immunisation clinics may all participate in the Free Influenza Vaccine Program (the program).

In 2026, Fluzone is the influenza vaccine available to providers participating in the program. Influenza vaccines ordered for the Free Influenza Vaccine Program should not be administered to NIP-eligible people, and vice-versa.

Check the table shows the vaccine brands and the cohort they are allocated to under the NIP and state programs.

Please note:

  • All vaccines administered must be recorded onto the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
  • Influenza stock ordered through the Free Influenza Vaccine Program (i.e. Fluzone) should only be used for those not eligible for NIP or other state-funded influenza vaccines. NIP-funded influenza vaccines can only be used for NIP eligible people, in accordance with the current WA Immunisation Schedule.

Eligibility

Eligible groups include:

  • people aged 12 to 64 years, not otherwise eligible for NIP-funded influenza vaccines.

People without a Medicare card, and interstate or international visitors, are eligible for an influenza vaccine as part of this program.

Ordering vaccines

Vaccines for the program can be ordered via the Onelink portal (external site).

Immunisation providers without a Onelink account can apply for an account using the Onelink account application form. More information is available on the Vaccine Ordering webpage.

Pharmacy payment information

In 2026, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia WA Branch (PGAWA) will coordinate the payment of pharmacies for vaccines administered as part of the program.

Registration

In 2026, pharmacies wishing to participate in the program and receive payment for vaccine administration must complete a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with PGAWA. This process will replace previous registration processes for the program via the department.

Charging additional co-payments for influenza vaccination administered under this program is not acceptable.

Pharmacies cannot claim payment from the PGAWA for influenza vaccines administered as part of another program, including, but not limited to:

The payment program does not reimburse for privately purchased influenza vaccines. Participating providers can order state funded influenza vaccines through Onelink (external site).

Corporate vaccination service providers payment information

Registration

The WA Department of Health will coordinate reimbursement payments to participating corporate vaccination service (CVS) providers.

For the purposes of this program, a CVS provider is defined as ‘a private for-profit organisation’ that administers vaccines. CVS providers are usually contracted to administer vaccines on behalf of another entity, such as administration of workplace influenza vaccines, as per vaccination provider type definitions outlined by Services Australia (external site).

Invitations to register for the CVS provider payment program will be sent to CVS providers with a Onelink account in April 2026. Registration to participate in the program will close 5.00 pm AWST 30 April 2026.

CVS providers without a Onelink account can apply for an account using the Onelink account application form (external site). More information is available on the Vaccine ordering webpage.

Claiming and payment

From 1 May to 30 June 2026, CVS providers participating in the program can claim $20.05 per state-funded influenza vaccine administered to eligible persons.

CVS providers cannot claim payment for influenza vaccines administered as part of another program, including, but not limited to:

  • NIP-funded influenza vaccines
  • funded by another influenza program, such as private health fund vouchers.

The payment program does not reimburse for the procurement or administration of privately purchased influenza vaccines. Participating providers can order state funded influenza vaccines through Onelink (external site).

To claim reimbursement, participating CVS providers must:

  • register for the program before 5.00 pm AWST 30 April 2026. Providers with an existing Onelink account will be emailed a registration link. CVS providers without a Onelink account will need to email influenza.reimbursement@health.wa.gov.au to request a registration link to complete the registration before the deadline. Registration will enrol the CVS provider for both May and June reimbursements.
  • have a valid Onelink account to order vaccines
  • report via the REDCap form
  • upload a reimbursement invoice for the number of influenza vaccines administered to eligible people in each month:
    • before 5.00 pm Wednesday 10 June 2026 for those administered to eligible people in May 2026
    • before 5.00 pm Wednesday 8 July 2026 for those administered to eligible people in June 2026.

CVS providers participating in the program must not charge their clients a service fee for receiving a state-funded vaccine.

All payment claims are subject to review and the department reserves the right to audit and reject any claims for reimbursement. Claims will be cross-referenced against Onelink vaccine order records. Claims for more than the number of vaccines ordered will delay processing and may result in non-payment.

Program auditing

Participating providers may be audited. Auditing may be undertaken to reconcile amounts paid with provider administration records. If discrepancies are identified providers may be requested to repay funds or other appropriate and lawful action may be carried out.

Records of influenza vaccines administered during the month of May and June using state-funded stock must be maintained by the provider in the event of a department audit. Records must include the age of recipient, vaccine brand, date of vaccine administration, and AIR provider number.
