GP ASK
GP ASK is a clinician-to-clinician service supporting general practitioners across Western Australia to access advice from a WA Health hospital specialist to deliver timely, high-quality patient care, and support clinical decision-making closer to home.
The service is available to all Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registered GPs, currently practising in Western Australia.
The GP ASK platform will allow GPs to securely share patient information with hospital specialists, allowing for non-urgent written advice to be provided within five working days. GPs will also have the option to book a virtual case discussion with a hospital specialist, which the patient can also attend.
GP ASK is a pilot service funded by the WA Government and the Department of Health. Confidential GP and patient feedback via surveys will be undertaken to assist with the evaluation of the pilot and allow for continued improvement of the service.
