Adolescent immunisation campaign

Protection for everybody

Promotion of free recommended vaccines to prevent serious diseases for students in year 7 and year 10.

Objectives

The campaign supports the WA Department of Health objectives to increase adolescent vaccination rates across the state by aiming to:

  • Increase parents, guardians and adolescents’ awareness of the free school-based immunisation program for year 7 and 10 and learn about catch-up options.
  • Improve understanding of the human papillomavirus (HPV), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and meningococcal ACWY vaccines.
  • Increase the completion rate of the online intent form among parents and guardians.

Key messages

  • Vaccines provided during adolescence at school are free, safe, and protect from serious diseases.
  • Consent is required prior to the school vaccination visit, so parents are urged to complete the online intent form on their adolescent’s behalf.
  • If students missed their school vaccinations, parents are encouraged to get their adolescents vaccinated at pharmacies, GPs and Aboriginal Medical Services (consultation fees may apply).

Target audience

  • WA parents and guardians of year 7 and 10 students in 2026.
  • WA students in year 7 and 10 in 2026.

Timing

February to November 2026
