'Stay well this winter' influenza vaccination campaign
The campaign aims to remind the Western Australians to get their annual influenza vaccination, keep up healthy hygiene habits, and stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations.
It also promotes that influenza vaccines are free for everyone during May.
Objectives
- Increase influenza vaccination numbers, especially in high-risk target audiences.
- Inform the community about the free influenza vaccine available in May.
- Reinforce the importance of preventing the spread of influenza and COVID-19 by reminding the community about appropriate hygiene habits
- Remind the community to keep up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Key messages
- Vaccination is the best protection against influenza (flu).
- With winter approaching it is important to book in for your flu vaccine, continue to practice healthy hygiene habits (washing hands, stay home when you are sick) and to stay up-to-date with COVID vaccinations.
- The flu vaccine is free for all Western Australians during May.
- Influenza vaccines are available from community immunisation clinics as well as participating GPs, pharmacies, and Aboriginal Medical Services (consultation fees may apply).
Target audience
Primary audience (most at risk of the serious effects of influenza)
- People aged 65 years and over
- Parents of young children aged 6 months to under 12 years
- Pregnant women
- Aboriginal people aged 6 months and older
- Health care workers and immunisation providers
- Medically at risk (e.g. people with chronic medical conditions)
Secondary audience
- Healthy adults and partners of pregnant women
