Arts therapy information for health professionals

Arts therapy uses the creative process of making art as a safe way to represent inner experiences, develop awareness and support personal change. Arts therapy can help people cope with difficulties and stress, and speed up the process of recovery.

There are two centres offering art therapy within Perth, Creative Expression Centre for Arts Therapy (CECAT) and Reflections Art Studio (RAS).

About the centres

CECAT’s programs are aimed at promoting early intervention and recovery for people diagnosed with a mental illness, transitioning in or out of hospital to the community, or people at risk of relapse or post relapse.

CECAT provides art therapy programs for people aged 16 to 65 who have a primary mental disorder.

Reflections Art Studio is a service for people living with persistent mental illness.

Reflections Art Studio helps adults with ongoing case management by a mental health or medical professional.
