Purpose
The Research and Innovation Policy Framework outlines the mandatory research and innovation policy requirements for WA health entities (Health Service Providers and Department of Health) to ensure effective and consistent research activity across the WA health system.
These mandatory requirements reinforce the need for research within health service provision to be conducted in accordance with the highest ethical and scientific standards. This framework aims to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring research and innovation maintain quality, sustainability and improved health outcomes for the WA public.

The following are mandatory requirements pursuant to this Policy Framework:
The Department of Health, on behalf of the System Manager, is responsible for monitoring and ensuring WA health entities comply with the requirements set out in each mandatory policy.
