Criminal Record Screening Policy and Guidelines

Applicable to: All individuals who work in or provide services to WA Health

The Department of Health is undertaking a review of all aspects of the Criminal Record Screening Policy and Guidelines (Policy). The provisions of the Policy remain in force while it is being reviewed.

Description: WA Health has a duty of care to take all reasonable steps to provide protection from harm to all clients receiving health services. WA Health also has a responsibility to the community to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to ensure employees fulfil their obligations as public officers with integrity. To assist WA Health to meet these obligations, the screening of criminal records will apply to all individuals who work in or provide services to WA Health.

Criminal Record Screening Policy and Guidelines

The WA Health Criminal Record Screening Policy and Guidelines were developed in consultation with key stakeholders across Health. The policy and guidelines have been developed in accordance with the Department of Health's Workforce Policy Development Framework.
