Purpose

The Clinical Services and Planning Policy Framework outlines mandatory requirements for WA health entities (Health Service Providers and Department of Health) to ensure clinical service and planning activity is effective, efficient and consistent across the WA health system. These requirements align with current strategic directions and clinical service planning priorities to deliver person-centered, evidence-based outcomes and facilitate continuous improvement.

This policy framework has been developed in alignment with WA Health Clinical Services Framework (2025-2035). This framework forms the Government’s blueprint for guiding the provision and delivery of safe, high quality public health care across Western Australia.

The Department of Health, on behalf of the System Manager, is responsible for monitoring and ensuring WA health entities complies with the requirements set out in each mandatory policy.
