COVID-19 update – 27 March 2020
The Department of Health has reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State’s total to 255.
The new cases include 11 males and 13 females, aged between five months and 82 years old. Of these new cases, 19 are from metropolitan Perth and four are from regional Western Australia.
The confirmed regional cases include two new cases from the Pilbara and the Southwest and one new case from the Goldfields.
Of these new cases 11 are passengers from cruise ships including the Ruby Princess, Ovation of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Celebrity Solstice.
Among the new confirmed cases is a Perth based healthcare worker.
The Department is in the process of interviewing all additional new cases to determine their travel history and to identify their close contacts.
There are currently 13 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with two in ICU.
The number of recovered cases in WA is now 28.
To date, 11,836 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19 – 1,591 of these are from regional WA.
