The Need for WLB:   To retain senior level registered nurses
Outcome:   Combination of working on-site and telecommuting

On returning from parental leave two Senior RN’s negotiated with the Nursing Director of Corporate Services a combination of working hours. This was initially trialled for a 3-month period. The hours of work were full time but were comprised of office and home based hours. Both RN’s worked 3 days on site and 2 days telecommuting from home.

The trial was completed and no problems were identified to the delivery of service so the arrangement has become permanent till the family responsibilities have been discharged.
