Delivering a Healthy WA
Smoke free

Resources for local sites

Presentation – evaluation of the implementation of the smoke free policy

This presentation provides a summary of the smoke free evaluation report. It can be used as a tool by WA Health staff to communicate the evaluation findings to other staff and site security. The presentation can also be used to encourage discussion surrounding the way forward for the policy.

Occupational safety and health (OSH) training

An effective way to educate staff on the smoke free policy is to include relevant information in staff occupational health and safety training or induction sessions. The following presentation slides can be added to presentations used at these sessions. The smoke free information brochure for staff can be used as a handout to accompany this presentation.

Fagerstrom test lanyard cards

These small cards provide instructions on conducting a quick Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence and can be attached to staff lanyards.

Smoke free distribution cards

These will be distributed by site security to individuals found smoking on WA Health grounds. The cards will:

  • inform people that smoking is not permitted on the grounds
  • include a simple message regarding the harms of smoking
  • provide Quitline information

Smoke free distribution card

The cards offer a potentially less confrontational way for staff and site security to inform people the grounds are smoke free. They will initially be trialled at three WA Health sites. If successful, the cards will be available for download from this website.
