Purpose:

Providing information for the management of environmental health risks to the general community and local government through provision of legislation and guidance material.

Programs and Services:

  • Education, liaison with industry and surveillance of safe handling of asbestos cement materials.
  • Monitoring of legionella disease notifications and provision of advice to industry.
  • Monitoring of water quality, design, construction and operation of aquatic facilities.
  • Monitoring of safe & hygienic standards for skin penetration and tattooing.
  • Surveillance, monitoring and standard setting for public buildings and mass gatherings.
  • Development of standards for mould in public buildings.
  • Monitoring of public health risks after the discovery of clandestine drug laboratories in dwellings and vacant bush blocks.
  • Environmental Health surveillance of Rottnest Island.
  • Legislation review and development
