WHAT IS FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Family and Domestic Violence is a crime. FDV is where one partner uses direct or threatened physical, sexual, economic or psychological violence in order to establish and maintain power and control over another person.
Family and Domestic Violence includes:
- physical assault;
- sexual assault;
- damage to a persons property;
- threats to damage property;
- verbal abuse and put downs;
- humiliation;
- forced isolation from family and/or friends;
- financial abuse - withholding or controlling against your will access to money, food, clothes and personal items such as car keys or bankbook; and
- harassment such as constant phone calls to your work or home or repeated visits to your home or workplace.
