Getting help

Recognising that you may have a mental health problem and taking steps to get help takes courage. Remember that you are not alone – 1 in 5 Australians experiences mental illness at some time in their life.

Sharing your feelings with someone you trust and being listened to can help enormously. Putting how you feel into words makes you think more clearly about a situation. It helps cut the problem down to size.

There are a range of people, including health professionals and support groups, who you can talk to about what you are experiencing. They can give you another perspective and help you to cope and work through your problems.
