3rd WA Transcultural Mental Health Conference

This is an opportunity to come together to collaborate and share knowledge, for:
- clinicians
- government and non-government service providers
- policy makers
- educators
- researchers
- consumers and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
Goals
- Share and explore innovations in holistic management of mental health care. These need to be culturally sensitive, culturally responsive, innovative and culturally appropriate for Western Australia’s new and emerging communities.
- Inform policy makers about how to best design and develop a mental health service for an increasing multicultural population.
- Broaden our knowledge about the availability and accessibility of mental health resources to pass on to CALD consumers and carers.
- Highlight proven and effective strategies for culturally appropriate community development and engagement for promoting mental health.
Conference themes
We will focus on several key themes including but not limited to:
- CALD young people and older adults
- trauma issues
- capacity building and community development among CALD communities
- innovations in transcultural mental health service delivery
- mental health promotion in CALD communities
- cultural competency and workforce development
- resourcing
- consumer and carer issues
- spirituality and mental health
- effective partnership with interpreting services
