Curtin University

Curtin’s University of Technology’s strategic outcomes align with the national health agenda around mental health. Curtin is a leader in health professional education and health research in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region. The Faculty of Health Sciences follows a long tradition of discipline-based course delivery to meet the needs of health professions while exploring innovative solutions to health problems through strong links with professional bodies and industry. Researchers at Curtin are exploring ways to empower people of all ages to strengthen and maintain their mental health especially during times of difficulty and transition. The Mental Health Good Outcome Awards provide an opportunity for Curtin to recognise the contributions of others to this important area.

Since the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 was proclaimed in 1985, the Commission has received more than 125,000 enquiries and handled more than 10,500 complaints.

Multicultural Services Centre of WA (MSCWA)

The Multicultural Services Centre of Western Australia (MSCWA) provides a range of services including SAAP and crisis accommodation, HACC, multicultural housing advocacy, employment and training services, on-arrival accommodation and related services, family mediation, relationship and other counselling, and settlement services for migrants and refugees. Its mental health facility, MAITRI, is a community-based multicultural mental health service.

It provides counselling, professional psychological assessments, therapy, information and mental health education. Showcasing outstanding individuals groups and organisations that foster leadership, innovation and continuous improvement is crucial in promoting good mental health outcomes. WA Association for Mental Health

The Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) is the peak body for community-based mental health organisations in WA.

WAAMH supports the development of the community-based mental health sector, provides systemic advocacy and representation, and influences public opinion for the benefit of people with mental illness and their carers.

WAAMH’s vision is that Western Australian community organisations will lead the way in supporting and including people with mental illness, and their carers, and providing well governed innovative community-based services focused on recovery.
