Environmental Factor

A factor prevalent in the environment or characteristic of it that may have an effect on individuals or the population as a whole. Examples include "Ozone composition of the atmosphere", "Pollutants in natural waterways", and "Drought".

Business Rules

Each ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR is a type of ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT.

Each ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR -

• may be located at one or more MAP ITEMs
• may be found within a REGION/LOCATION GROUP

Environmental Health Notification

A communication from a PERSONNEL MEMBER (acting on behalf of an Environmental Health area within the Department of Health) to an external agency (usually a government agency) to alert the agency of an environmental health problem.

This is done in accordance with regulations that require notification to be made in certain situations such as food poisoning, radioactive contamination, chemical spills.

Business Rules

Each ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH NOTIFICATION -

• must be received by only one ORGANISATIONAL UNIT
• must be sent by only one PERSONNEL MEMBER
• may trigger an ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SURVEILLANCE
• may identify an ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT

An ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PROSECUTION is the details held about the process of pursuing formal changes against an offender to final judgement for breaches to standards and conditions for which adherence is enacted in law

Environmental Health Surveillance

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SURVEILLANCE is the examination of the condition, situation, or value of an ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT against stipulated ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STANDARDs or LICENCE conditions.

Business Rules

Each ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SURVEILLANCE -

• must survey only one ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT
• may be triggered by one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH NOTIFICATIONs
• may result in one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PROSECUTIONs
• may monitor one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STANDARDs
• may occur at one or more GEOGRAPHIC ADDRESSes
• may suspend or cancel one or more LICENCEs
• may be obtain samples at one or more MAP ITEMs

Environmental Object

An ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT is a thing or condition, either natural or produced, which is part of the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors that surround us.

Business Rules

Each ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT is a SPECIFIC COMMODITY ITEM, a PUBLIC USE AREA, an ENVIRONMENTAL FACTOR or a COMMODITY TYPE.

Each ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT -

• may be identified by one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH NOTIFICATIONs
• may be surveyed by one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SURVEILLANCEs
• may be the subject of one or more LICENCEs

Licence

A LICENCE is a permission granted by a HEALTH SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT to engage in a business or occupation or in an activity otherwise unlawful.

Business Rules

Each LICENCE -

• must be granted by only one HEALTH SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT
• must be an issuance of only one LICENCE TYPE
• may specify adherence to one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH STANDARDs
• may be suspended or cancelled by one or more ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SURVEILLANCEs
• may have fees settled as one or more FINANCIAL EVENTs
• may be required to produce, sell or utilise an ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT
• must be held by only one ORGANISATIONAL UNIT or must be held by only one PERSON
• must be applied for by only one ORGANISATIONAL UNIT or must be applied for by only one PERSON

Licence Type

A LICENCE TYPE is a category of business or occupation or activity for which a LICENCE is required to be issued in order for the business/occupation/activity to be lawfully undertaken.

Each LICENCE TYPE may be issued as one or more LICENCEs.

Public Use Area

These are places (open, enclosed or both) to which members of the public have access. Examples include shopping centres, parks, eating and/or drinking establishments, and recreation areas.

Each PUBLIC USE AREA -

• must be the responsibility of only one ORGANISATIONAL UNIT
• must be located at only one GEOGRAPHIC ADDRESS or must be located at only one REGION/LOCATION GROUP or must be located at one or more MAP ITEMs

Specific Commodity Item

A product (naturally occurring or manufactured) that is identifiable by some means (such as a serial number if it is manufactured). Examples include potable water supplied from a specific dam or a particular tube of suntan cream.

Each SPECIFIC COMMODITY ITEM is a type of ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECT.

Each SPECIFIC COMMODITY ITEM -

• must be classified as only one COMMODITY TYPE
• must be sourced from only one ORGANISATIONAL UNIT
