Internal Referral System (IRS)
What is it?
The proposed internal referral system (IRS) solution is a renovation of the existing RPH-site based eConsult application. The renovated version will be hosted in the central data centre, will be available for all metro sites and have the following functionality:
- Enable a fully electronic process for submission and management of work requests between departments – whether medical consults, nurse specialist request or procedure exam requests. This will then allow timely submission and delivery of requests and allow service providers to appropriately manage department workloads.
- By electronically capturing the referral information this information will be able to be shared across a much wider set of care providers in a timelier manner (a copy will still be added to the paper-based medical record).
At present there is limited recovery of financials related to compensable patient visits conducted by Consultants on arrangement A as well as medical consults for compensable patients. This solution will allow these to be recovered by capturing the information directly from the Consultants and providing the details to Health Corporate Network (HCN), who in turn can then recover funds for these items from the medical insurers. There is potentially significant revenue that can be recovered through this solution.
Delivery Date
The project is in the early planning stages. Key milestones will be available when the project initiation stage is complete.
