Filshie Clip Applicators and their Maintenance
It is strongly recommended that all hospitals/health services undertaking tubal sterilisation procedures with a Filshie Clip applicator, irrespective of the number of procedures done per year, purchase an applicator closure checking gauge. According to the manufacturer's information, the applicator closure checking gauge will provide identification of applicators that may need readjustment. In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions the, applicator closure checking gauge should be used immediately prior to each Filshie Clip sterilisation procedure.
The manufacturer recommends replacement of the applicator closure checking gauge every two years and this ought be adhered to.
All Filshie Clip applicators require adjustment and recalibration after 100 uses or every 12 months, whichever is the earliest. This maintenance must only be performed by the manufacturer or their appointed agent.
