WA Health Employee Breastfeeding Policy
WA Health recognises the importance of breastfeeding for both the mother and infant and acknowledges its short and long-term health benefits.
WA Health is committed to providing a workplace environment that will assist employees to balance their work and family responsibilities. As part of this commitment, WA Health supports employees who are breastfeeding by providing:
flexible work options to employees
a work environment that supports breastfeeding
wherever reasonably practicable, breastfeeding facilities and resources in or near the workplace.
The revised WA Health Employee Breastfeeding Policy has been amended to:
clarify breastfeeding break requirements
detail employee and manager responsibilities
require finalised breastfeeding agreements to be forwarded to local Health Service Workforce Services/Human Resources for evaluation and reporting purposes.
