Quarantining of Staff Vacancies
The purpose of this directive is to temporarily vary standard WA Health recruitment & selection practices to:
This directive applies to all WA Health operating entities under the direction and control of the:
The recruitment pool for all permanent staff vacancies will in the first instance be limited to those employees declared to be displaced or potentially displaced by major metropolitan service development initiatives (e.g. Fiona Stanley Hospital and Midland Health Campus). In circumstances where an appointment is not made from the pool the standard recruitment and selection practices will then apply.
A Chief Executive Officer will from time to time declare which positions are to be displaced or potentially displaced by major metropolitan service development initiatives. Health Corporate Network will maintain a list of the substantive occupants of such declared positions.
Applications will initially be sought from the list of the current substantive occupants of declared positions and where feasible an appointment will be made from that pool. The criteria for appointment will be the same as in cases of redeployment.
If a displaced employee obtains a new permanent position and the employee and both health service entities agree, the appointee may continue to be deployed to the declared position on a temporary basis and the new substantive position of the displaced employee will be covered by a fixed-term contract appointment. If the displaced employee commences immediately in the new permanent position then the declared position vacated will be filled on a fixed term contract basis.
This Operational Directive is to be read in conjunction with Operational Directive OD 0372/12 - Relocation and Deployment Principles.
