|Description:||The WA Department of Healthís Director for Child Safety recognises, via the Protection of Children Policy (2008) that health care providers have a key role in the protection of children. The Guidelines for Protecting Children 2009 replaces the Guidelines for Responding to Child Abuse, Neglect and the Impact of Family and Domestic Violence (2004). It is the primary initial resource to assist all DOH health care providers protect children.|

Guidelines for Protecting Children 2009
The existing Guidelines for responding to child abuse, neglect and the impact of family and domestic violence’ (2004) have been reviewed in consultation with key stakeholders and have been replaced with the Guidelines for Protecting Children (2009).
This policy applies to all persons employed in WA Health, which incorporates the following entities:

WA Health staff are required to comply with the Guidelines.
