WA Health - LHMU - Aboriginal and Ethnic Health Workers - Industrial Agreement 2009

The WA Health – LHMU – Aboriginal and Ethnic Health Workers - Industrial Agreement 2009 (“the Agreement”) was registered on 7 April 2009.  The Agreement:

  • Replaces the LHMU – Department of Health Aboriginal and Ethnic Health Workers – (Federal) Agreement 2005;
  • Overrides the Health Workers Community and Child Health Services Award 2000; and
  • Overrides the LHMU – Union Recognition and Job Security Agreement – Department of Health – Aboriginal and Ethnic Health Workers 2005.

The Agreement is effective from 7 April 2009 except for the wages increases which are effective from 1 August 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Employees whose employment ceased prior to 7 April 2009 are not entitled to the retrospective application of the increase to wages.

Significant changes to the Agreement include:

  • Inclusion of an Agreement Flexibility provision;
  • Increase in Parental Leave to 14 weeks paid leave from 1 July 2008;
  • Enhanced Annual Leave Travel Concession provisions; and
  • Standardisation of leave clauses (including Study, Professional Development, English Language Training, International Sporting Events and Witness and Jury Leave) in line with other WA Health Agreements.
