WA Health Web Development Policy
The implementation of a Website Governance Framework for the whole of Government has been endorsed by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s Office of e-Government, and the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Communications, and has been released to all WA Government Public Sector agencies. Directors General and CEOs have now been notified that it is mandatory to comply with the Office of e-Government (OeG) framework.
The OeG framework provides agencies with a consistent approach to the management and delivery of information and services to citizens and business in the online environment. The framework includes governance processes, evaluation and reporting guidelines, a business plan template, standards, guidelines and compliance checklists, domain name policy and a website registration process.
This policy seeks to provide an environment whereby WA Health can conform to the requirements of the OeG framework and in the process provide a coherent, unified Internet site with consistent branding and style. This policy will also provide the framework for the development of a WA Health Intranet site which is recognised as a prime business tool for the organisation. The WA Health Website Governance and the WA Health Website Style Guidelines are endorsed components of the WA Health website development framework.
The WA Health Web Development Policy was developed in consultation with key stakeholders across WA Health, the Office of e-Government (OeG) and the Disability Services Commission. It applies to all WA Health Internet and Intranet sites, all websites that are developed or maintained on behalf of WA Health and interfaces for applications developed by WA Health and accessed via WA Health websites.
It is incumbent upon all officers responsible for WA Health websites to ensure that website development is carried out in accordance with this policy.
Dr. Peter Flett
