WA Health Equity and Diversity Plan 2007-2009 (Revised)

WA Health is committed to achieving greater workforce diversity and inspiring positive cultural change across our workforce.

The WA Health Equity and Diversity Plan 2007-2009 has recently been revised to include additional information to support the implementation of the initiatives contained within the Plan.  Furthermore, in recognising that a large proportion of the WA Health workforce are mature age employees, the Plan now includes a specific strategy aimed at retaining and attracting mature age employees.

The WA Health Equity and Diversity Plan 2007-2009 applies to all persons employed within WA Health.  The Plan aims to achieve an equitable and diverse workforce which is representative of the Western Australian community at all levels of employment, and enables employees to combine work and family responsibilities.   We need a diverse workforce in WA Health so that we can:

  • Meet the diverse needs of the community that we serve, and
  • Provide equal opportunity for all people in employment.

An underlying principle of the Plan is to ensure a working environment exists within WA Health free of harassment and discrimination where all employees are treated with fairness and respect.

All managers and staff are expected to show commitment to achieving the objectives contained within the Plan and to uphold the principles it incorporates.

Should you have any queries about the Equity and Diversity Plan please contact your local Human Resources Branch.

A copy of the Plan is attached for your information and can also be accessed on Health Workforce Link at http://intranet.health.wa.gov.au/hwl/equity/index.html
