Continued Management of Nursing Workloads
The Western Australian Government is committed to ensuring that nursing workloads in our hospitals continue to be managed in an appropriate manner. In this regard, the Nursing Hours per Patient Day Model, arising from the Exceptional Matters Order issued by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, has proven to be an effective method for establishing staffing levels in a wide range of clinical care settings.
Whilst the Exceptional Matters Order will expire on 28 February 2004, respective Health Services are to continue to apply the terms of the Exceptional Matters Order on an administrative basis.
