Renal Dialysis
The purpose of this program bulletin is to describe how the Statewide Renal Dialysis Program will work in 2002/03. A detailed outline of the policy and funding directions for the program can be found in the End Stage Renal Failure Mid-Term Review of Renal Dialysis Services (HDWA, June 1998). In November 2001, the Review of the Statewide Renal Dialysis Program and Renal Disease in Western Australia was completed. Appropriate recommendations from this review may be implemented towards the end of the 2002/03 financial year.

Hospital Morbidity Information
The purpose of this bulletin is to describe the clinical information reporting obligations of hospitals for the clinical data submitted to the Hospital Morbidity Data System (HMDS) database.
 
BB 13/3 (1 July 2002)  
Waiting List Information
The purpose of this bulletin is to describe the waiting list information reporting needs of the Department of Health (DOH). All Hospitals are required to submit a monthly extract of waiting list information to the Health Information Centre (HIC) and the Central Wait List Bureau (CWLB). Wait list information must be kept up to date and accurate at source. All hospitals require a waiting/booking list. Waiting list information can be used to separate planned activity growth from emergency department growth. Waiting list funds will be allocated on the basis of waiting list information.

This policy applies within Western Australia only. Refer to the Interstate Patient Travel Scheme for guidelines regarding the return of the body when people die following interstate assisted travel for medical treatment.

Aged Care Assessment Program
The core objective of the Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP) is to comprehensively assess the needs of frail older people to facilitate access to available care services appropriate to their needs. In meeting this objective, Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) also determine eligibility for Commonwealth subsidised residential aged care, Community Aged Care Packages and some flexible care services, including Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH).
