What was involved?
Participants in the 2008 forums
- learned more about biobanks and found out what others think
- gave their views which helped us establish guidelines and policies for biobanks
- Received information back from us about what we learned
Participants didn't need to know anything about biobanks. They just needed to be willing to share their views and be open to new ideas and the views of others.
We asked that people read and listened to the information supplied. They asked questions, discussed the issues and shared their thoughts, respecting the views of others and being open to new ideas.
Before, during and after the forum there was a survey which took on average 20 minutes. This told us participants' thoughts about biobanks at the various stages of the forum. The answers were confidential and only the summary of results from all participants is published.
