Art therapy

Indigenous program

We employ an Indigenous art therapist to help Indigenous people living with the effects of mental illness.

This service is available for people from all metropolitan areas of Perth.

Trish, an Alawa/Marra woman, says that art is especially effective for Indigenous people with mental illness because of the central role that art plays in the culture.

"Art's a second language for our people, my Mum calls it the silent counsellor – when things are too hard to verbalise, you paint about it. Our people aren't that up-front with talking... it's a shame thing. Art can play a major part in our healing."

If you would like to do art with Trish, call her at Reflections Tuesday through Friday.
