About us

The Western Australian government is spending $6.6 million over the next four years to manage anaphylaxis.

The anaphylaxis management implementation group will lead the project and includes representatives from:

  • WA Health
  • Department for Communities
  • Department of Education and Training
  • Department for Child Protection
  • Anaphylaxis Australia
  • Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy
  • Catholic Education
  • Association of Independent Schools
  • dietitians
  • general practitioners

The plan

Our purpose is to implement the recommendations of the report:

Our plan to manage anaphylaxis in Western Australian schools and child care services includes:

  • raising the awareness of anaphylaxis and its health impact on parents and carers, the community, school and child care services
  • planning legislation to govern the safe and secure emergency management of anaphylaxis by teachers and carers
  • reviewing first aid and anaphylaxis risk policies in schools and child care services
  • setting up a standardised and certified education program for teachers, child care workers and carers
  • improving the knowledge base of health professionals
  • establishing a specialised paediatric anaphylaxis service
