Non-admitted Patient Collection (Emergency Department, Outpatient Care, Community Health)
The Non-Admitted Patient Data Collections Unit manages Emergency Department, Outpatient Care (including Allied Health) and Community Health information. The Unit provides expert advice on usage of the data, provides reports and assists health service planners, analysts and clinicians in the assessment and management of patient services. The data also enable analysis of health service utilisation and clinical outcomes. The three data collections managed by the Unit are:
Emergency Department
The Emergency Department Data Collection is a collection of all presentations to Emergency Departments at public hospitals in Western Australia. Additionally, some private hospital data is collected, when the hospital provides a public emergency department. Data is available from July 2002 onwards.
Outpatient Care (including Allied Health)
When fully developed, the Outpatient Care Data Collection will comprise all attendances at Outpatient Departments at Western Australia public hospitals, including allied health attendances.
Rural data have been collected since 1999, and metropolitan data are currently being obtained to augment the collection.
The Outpatient Care Development Project is developing the data into a patient-level collection. Once complete, Outpatient and Allied Health data will assist in the planning and analysis of Outpatient Department utilisation, waiting times, referral patterns and patient outcomes. For information on the Outpatient Care Development Project please go to Newsletters.
Community Health
The Community Health Data Collection contains all occasions of service provided by Child and Community Health centres in Western Australia. Service provision and outcomes data are collected at health service site level. The data are available from 1997 onwards.
They are sourced from extracts and have not been merged into a data repository.
